Why a cross dock warehouse is important
1. Worker Safety
2. Less damage to freight
3. Better organization for quicker loading or unloading
What is a cross dock LTL terminal?
The critical difference is that in a cross dock terminal/warehouse the floor level/elevation is 4 feet above ground level.
Most commercial trucks' and trailers' floor level is also 4 feet off the ground.
This means that freight moved by forklift or pallet jack or fridge dolly can be quickly and safely moved from or to a truck or trailer and other trucks or trailers parked against the cross dock terminal
And usually cross dock terminals have built in dock plates that form a bridge between the truck and the terminal for smooth safe movement between the truck/trailer and the building
Mica Mountain Transportation occupies the only cross dock terminal in Valemount
